Baked Italian Chicken Wings

Baked Italian Chicken Wings are healthier and a delicious alternative to fried!

Most of the time we enjoy our wings this way and they're so easy to make using less oil and still, have the crispy outside of fried chicken but oven-fried.

I marinate them, then use one of our many styles of 18 chicken wing dipping sauces!

If you have never tried to bake wings, you will be pleasantly surprised just how crunchy and tender these are.

With a little Italian herb and garlic flavor in this terrific easy marinade, these wings will be your next new favorite way to eat them!

To feed my crowd I usually make around 3 pans of baked wings and triple the sauce, the family favorite sauce is the Parmesan Garlic sauce with butter!

Healthy Baked Wings

There is so much more fat in frying wings but we love wings so baked is delicious too!

This is such a healthy alternative to frying, still has a little bit of fat with the coating. less fat and oh-so flavorful.

Of course, if you prefer fried, you can still make these fried. The marinade is fantastic, it keeps them tender and juicy.

Just imagine, crispy baked wings with a crunchy parmesan coating that is just out of this world awesome!

I usually make around 32 wings at a time so double, triple whatever you need to feed your crowd, these go fast believe me!

These are baked Italian wings with a garlic parmesan buttery coating after baked on top garnished with parsley. They taste like fried wings but they are baked not fried.

Other Cooking Methods

  1. Air Fry: place on oil-sprayed aluminum foil in batches of 6 or 8 wings. Heat the air fryer to 400 degrees for 18 minutes, check, and continue air frying until desired crispness.
  2. Grilled:  place on the grill on medium heat outside until the wings are crisp and the juice runs clear around 25 minutes.
  3. Convection Oven: proceed with the oven method at 400 degrees for 45 minutes.

Wings and Things

If you love fried chicken wings you will be amazed at how delicious baked, air fried or grilled these are.

You will be eliminating much of the grease the chicken holds when fried for a healthier wing experience without giving them up.

You can also bake them on a disposable pan for less cleanup!

These wings are healthier, simple to make and very tasty.

Give them a try and don't forget to pass the dipping sauces!

  1. Mmmm, I've baked wings before, and it really is so much easier (and healthier) than deep-frying. I love the sauce you brush on, parmesan and garlic... sounds like a great combo!

  7. What a great guest post from your son, with all the yummy sauces!
The baked chicken wings are my favorite. They are so crisp, yet tender, and delicious!

I make my chicken wings the way you do, and just love to make the Buffalo hot sauce to pour over, and have extra for dipping.
I'm not very adventurous with all the other sauces, except the Teriyaki sauce, which is oh, so good on other meats, and veggies!

Claudia, your photos are really looking beautiful!

  8. I'll be doing this one of these Sundays - such a fun treat for a frigid afternoon. Oh I love garlic, cheese and herbs on a chicken wing!

  9. I've always had difficulty getting the wings to turn out crispy. I've never turned them more than once (half-way) before, tho. I'm guessing it's more oven time (since you're constantly releasing heat opening the oven), but you're clearly getting the desired results. They look perfect in the photos!

    Thanks for sharing your method!

    1. The skin will get soggy due to the moisture that the slow cooker omits. If you are making skinless or do not care about the crispy wings, then its fine. I prefer crisp wings on the skin.
