Delicious Oven Fried Chicken is so crispy everyone thinks it's deep-fried on the stovetop!


This is one of those quick and easy recipes that we make often because after you eat it this way the family will ask for it again and again!


It's a healthier version and I promise it really tastes fried!


This is so much easy than standing there frying each piece in oil and a lot less to clean up!


This oven-fried chicken is so crunchy and flavorful it's hard to believe it wasn't deep-fried.

Making this oven-fried is a healthier version than using all that oil and easier than standing over a hot stove, super simple using a cookie sheet and baking it!

Oven-Fried Perfection



If you love crispy chicken then you're going to be wowed by how delicious this is baked in the oven.


We remove the skin for a heart-healthy air fryer version just oil spray the chicken on the outside and omit the butter!.


Use any parts of the chicken you prefer, this will shock everyone it isn't fried and you can even air fry this instead of bake see the directions below for air frying!

Ingredients You Must Have ( scroll to the recipe card for exact measurements)


  • chicken whatever you prefer
  • unsalted butter
  • granulated garlic
  • dried Italian seasoning
  • salt, pepper to taste
  • Italian flavored bread crumbs (panko works the best but whatever you have is fine)
  • grated cheese Reggiano Romano
  • minced garlic
  • optional: cayenne pepper

Tips


  • Use Italian flavored bread crumbs regular or panko
  • for spicy add some cajun seasoning and cayenne pepper
  • for crispier coating after it cooks broil the top for around 3 to 5 minutes
  • this chicken recipe can be air fried at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes
  • for easier cleanup line the baking sheet with parchment paper
  • use freshly chopped herbs instead of dry when possible
  • Any kind of grated cheese is fine
  • always preheat the oven first
  • you can use any parts of the chicken boneless or bone-in
  • AIR FRIED METHOD: Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees (my model takes 6 minutes to heat). Place the chicken presentation side down in the air fryer lightly spray the basket and chicken with cooking oil spray and let cook 6 to 11 minutes or until the internal temperature of the chicken reads 165 degrees

Oven Fried Chicken

This chicken is crunchy fried in the oven with a buttery garlic bread crumb coating. Very easy to make and a family favorite. The chicken comes out very tender and juicy and super easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds of chicken (thighs, wings, or breasts)
  • (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 cups Italian flavored bread crumbs
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
  • 2 teaspoons Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder
  • Optional: cayenne pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a small saucepan heat the butter and minced garlic until melted.
  4. Mix the bread crumbs, cheese, seasoning, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  5. Pour the butter, garlic mixture in a deep pie plate.
  6.  Dip each chicken piece, one at a time, into the melted garlic butter. 
  7. Place the bread crumb mixture into another pie plate and dip chicken one piece at a time into this mixture.
  8. Arrange the chicken in one flat layer on a large baking sheet. 
  9. Drizzle on any of the remaining melted butter. 
  10. Bake until browned and juices run clear around 50 to 60 minutes.
  11. Note for crunchier coating, broil for around 3 minutes on medium broil.
  12. AIR FRYER METHOD: Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees  (my model takes 6  minutes to heat). Place the chicken presentation side  down in the air fryer and let cook 6 to 11 minutes or until the internal temperature of the chicken reads 165 degrees
