The sau...No mistake the difference is preferences. The sauce get thick from simmering sounds like too much broth. The other thing that would have saved the sauce is adding wondra flour just a teaspoon in water and add to thicken or cornstarch. As far as the salt restrictions there you did great with the substitutes. I do not cover mine. Mistake #1: Used no salt ...I made this last night. Mistake #1: Used no salt added beef broth and didn't add salt (Sodium restricted diet). Tasted a bit flat but Mrs. Dash helped! Mistake #2: Put the lid on the skillet and cooked for a couple of hours on low. Too thin! Took the lid off and cooked for another hour but still too watery. (all my bad). Question: Do you add the wine with the beef broth? Instructions didn't say but I added with the broth. Maybe too much broth? Hubby loved it and it was good, despite the thin sauce. (He added salt to his).
