Best Italian Easter Recipe Roundup

Saturday, April 3, 2021
Easter is such a fun time for kids and the young at heart and remembering for our blessing as we join with family and friends.

Although we can't post every single classic recipe here, we have a roundup of Italian tried and true recipes made year after year.

As the years past and the family seem to get smaller from moving or those who pass on, we still make many of the traditional foods mom brought us up on.

Mom would usually start out with Pizza Rustica a deep dish meat and cheese pie, then Grain/Rice pie those two were here specialty along with Cassata which is always noticed made for dessert.

Here in our Italian family, we carry on many food traditions from Easter side dishes, large Italian meals, and fun delicious Easter Desserts.

Over the years, Mom, Grandma, Dad, and all our family gathered around for many years to celebrate their special Regional dishes from childhood,

For Catholics, Easter is the celebration of Christ's resurrection from the dead and our family was dedicated to these traditional values.

It is celebrated on Sunday and marks the end of Holy Week, the end of Lent comes at the end of 40 days of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving known as Lent.

Here is a roundup of recipes we enjoyed through the years to celebrate this day with family and friends.

The kids just love all the fun foods that are colorful and yummy and the love we all shared preparing them.

Come stroll through a typical Italian Easter Sunday with me.

Easter and Some Catholic Traditions

Traditional family activities vary by region.

In the United States, many children often hunt for Easter eggs, which are often brightly dyed hard-boiled eggs, though they can be plastic eggs filled with candy or small denominations of money.

Candy is a traditional gift for Easter as children often break their Lenten fasts with sugary sweets.

Adults tend to share bouquets of flowers, and all the women wore a corsage from my dad.

Back in the 1960s, we all got dressed to the nines as they say with Easter bonnets and brand-new suits and dresses.

Fabulous Memories

Our holidays were always great memories and fun times back then and now we carry on traditions.

After church, we all gather for a huge family meal.

Every year Mom, grandma, and aunt would make our favorites, usually soups, homemade pasta or some a huge assortment of delicious cookies and pastries.

Following Easter Sunday, the season of Easter begins and lasts for seven weeks, ending with Pentecost.

  15. I loved hearing about all your Easter traditions. I remember when I was younger that all the family gathered together, Grandmas, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and we would have leg of lamb and other favorites. Now I carry on the tradition with hunting the Easter eggs and making an Easter braid like yours. Easter brings smiles to all our faces. Thanks for the yummy recipe collection.
