Heart Shaped Cake Pops

These are the easiest cake pops ever, store-bought or homemade you can do these quickly with our instructions or make a whole day project out of them.

Last year I made them all from scratch for a baby shower using my own homemade poundcake recipe and homemade frosting from the half-moon cookie recipe, this time I decided to take the easy way out and used store-bought products.

These were fast easy and I didn't have to take all day to clean up loads of dishes so it's now the only way I will make cake pops.

Although you can roll these into balls, use silicone cake pops molds or just improvise like I did and use the dollar store molds they work fine.

The only other tools you will really need are some parchment paper and lollipop sticks plus some dipping white candy melts, food coloring is optional but sanding sugars are the nice finishing touch of color especially for a baby reveal party.

Step-by-Step Cake Pops

  1. Buy a premade Pound Cake or use our Pound Cake Recipe
  2. Prepare a baking sheet and line it with parchment paper
  3. Cube the cake, add to a bowl with frosting
  4. Mix them place them in molds then add the sticks
  5. Freeze an hour
  6. Dip in melted candy melts and dry on parchment paper

  • pound cake store-bought (frozen or prepackaged) or use our homemade recipe for pound cake
  • vanilla frosting tinted pink (or use a cherry or strawberry canned frosting) 
  • sticks for the cake pops
  • white chocolate melts (usually two bags) or white chocolate chips 
  • red or pink food coloring to tint the frosting
  • optional: sprinkles or sanding sugars of any color

Tips and Suggestions:


  • always freeze them first before dipping them into melted chocolate
  • add more frosting if it doesn't hold together
  • cut the pound cake into cubes before mixing with a hand electric mixer
  • if you really want to make it simple, buy  frosted store-bought cupcakes, mash and mold
  • no heart molds or cake pop molds? no problem just roll them into balls

Homemade vs Store-Bought?


I have made these both ways, and personally, I prefer to save time and make these from store-bought ingredients. again this is your preference

These look great on a party table and are perfect for holidays, birthdays, and special events.

The cake pops are fun wrapped individually and great for showers,  and as wedding favors to pass out!

Cake pops are made easily with store-bought pound cake and canned frosting., and sprinkles and perfect for any occasion

Ingredients

  • 1 pound cake store-bought (frozen or prepackaged) or use our homemade recipe for pound cake ( some store-bought are less than 1 pound so you will have to adjust for frosting amounts)
  • 1/2 cup or up to 2/3 cup of vanilla frosting tinted pink (or use a cherry or strawberry canned frosting)
  • 28 to 20 sticks for the cake pops
  • 24 ounces of white chocolate melts (usually two bags) or white chocolate chips
  • red or pink food coloring
  • optional: sprinkles or sanding sugars of any color

Instructions

  1. Prepare a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper for nonstick.
  2. Cut the pound cake into pieces, then add the tinted frosting to a mixing bowl.
  3. Using an electric mixer blend the two together until it comes together around 1 or 2 minutes.
  4. Either place 1 tablespoon into shaped cake pop or another kind of mold of choice (I use heart-shaped molds from the dollar store) or you can roll these into balls if you prefer.
  5. Place the sticks into each one and line them up on the prepared pan.
  6. Take the sheet and freeze these for at least an hour.
  7. Melt the chocolate (tint whatever color you prefer, we do pink or red for Valentine's Day) or you can also just leave them white and use colorful candy sprinkles and sugars.
  8. Sprinkle with sanding sugar.
  9. Place back on the sheet to dry on parchment paper or the silicone mat.
