Jack Daniels Pulled Pork Sandwich

Friday, February 21, 2020
These have to be the tastiest Jack Daniels Pulled Pork Sandwiches on the planet, and so darn easy you won't believe it!

Really nothing to this recipe, soda, barbecue, slow-cooked meat and voila, a perfect fork-tender saucy sandwich everyone goes nuts over.

Perfect for feeding a large crowd, parties and even using the slow cooker at the office for associate parties!

The best thing about this recipe is you can use any meats you like because it tastes great with chicken beef, pork and more!

My barbecue sauce for Jack Daniels is superb but you can use a store-bought kind if you like.

We use the homemade barbecue sauce on many of our grilled food recipes.

You don't have to wait until summer to get a great barbecued tasty sandwich because I have several cooking methods to choose from right in your indoor kitchen!

Scroll down to the printable recipe card and check out how easy this recipe is to make and watch how many compliments you will get when you serve this to friends and family!

The Most Tender Meat!

Every bite is tender with slow cooking the meat.

The meat also stays super juicy and the flavors are a little sweet and with a hint of garlic and spices and if you use some cayenne pepper it will add some heat if you like hot and spicy!

The meat is so delicious even plain without even adding any sauce to it, so if you're not a barbecue sauce fan, leave it just the way it is straight from the pot.

Cooking Methods

  1. Instant pot: sear the meat first 3 minutes on each side then place the instant pot on slow cooker mode to manual instructions.
  2. Regular slow cooker/crockpot: sear meat on top of the stove first for 3 minutes on each side then place in the slow cooker for 6 to 8 hours on low or 4 to 6 hours on high.
  3. Oven-roasted on 250 covered with foil in a roasting pan for around 6 hours.
  4. Smoker: place in a smoker using apple chips on 225 low heat for 12 hours.
  5. Pressure cooker for 45 minutes or to your instruction manual.

Ingredients You Will Need to Make Jack Daniels Pulled Meat Sandwiches

  • boneless Beef roasts ( I use London broil) or Pork Tenderloin ( you can also use the Pork shoulder or Pork butt just be careful of the bones) or boneless chicken breasts
  • whiskey (we use Jack Daniels) (for nonalcohol users, add beef broth)
  • root beer, coke, or cherry coke
  • granulated garlic powder
  • black pepper and salt
  • Optional: a pinch of cayenne pepper if you like spicy, liquid smoke

Tips

  • Allow the meat to slow cooker and if you're in a hurry cook overnight on low
  • Toasting the bun makes the sandwich very flavorful especially grilled with butter
  • Other toppings like lettuce, tomato, crispy bacon, sharp cheeses make a nice addition to the sandwich
  • The meat freezes easily in freezer bags without sauce on it, thaw when ready to use and add barbecue sauce
  • You can also serve this meat just as it is without barbecues sauce.
  • If you prefer not to use sweetened soda, use diet soda or beef broth.
  • This shredded meat is great in wraps, tortilla shells, on salads and over rice.

Shredding the meat

I usually use two forks to shred the meat, they also have a tool you can purchase that shreds the meats called shred claws from various companies.

If the meat is slow-cooked it falls apart easily.

I have made this recipe in a regular electric smoker, in the oven and in a slow cooker crockpot express and also the original instant pot.

Every method as long as you slow cook the meat will be fork shreddable and tender.

Suggestions for Meats:

Meats I prefer are all boneless

  • Chicken breasts
  • Beef roasts
  • Pork roasts (if you use the butt of pork shoulder ask the butcher to remove the bone)
  • Venison tenderloin

  3. Great recipe, but you left out the step where you need additional Jack Daniels and coke for consumption while the meat is cooking.

  4. Another fantastic recipe I can make for Ted. He'll love me forever :)
Have you tasted the new Jack Daniels Honey? My sister LOVED it. I could only brush my lips with it but still couldn't muster up the courage to take a big sip. Too harsh even with honey but they are on the right track.
