Potatoes Cheese and Sour Cream Casserole

Easy side dish even delicious at breakfast!

 (2 lb) paper thin sliced potatoes or frozen hash brown potatoes thawed
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup melted butter
1 pint sour cream
8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
cayenne pepper to taste
1 package crushed butter flavored cracker crumbs mixed with 1 tablespoon melted butter
In a large bowl, mix all ingredients together.
Bake in a 9"x13" glass dish for one hour at 350 degrees
Put crushed crumbs  on top, sprinkle with more cheese if you like and  bake an additional five minutes.
 
Variations: add 1 cup of meat to mixture,  chopped cooked  ham, cooked bacon or pepperoni.

There is nothing more comforting than casserole dishes this time of year! These cheesy potatoes are definitely something I would enjoy-probably hard to find someone who would not! Great post.

Must be something in the air since I was in the mood to use sourcream over potatoes ina dish last night. It was a Taste of Utica dish but even so..the sour cream potato combo works so well.
Your casserole looks wonderful. Great recipe!

Yum! We've always called these funeral potatoes as they are often sold at funeral luncheons. ;)

These are my "downfalls"...the comforting cheesy casseroles, and I do believe I used to make this at least 20 or 30 years ago...I'm from the "old school" of cooking!
