Before the metal molds came out, we used the dowels from window shades. Great job, Claudia. How wonderful that your son is preserving the recipes for posterity.

I have had canolis in Italy, thanks to the Everybody Loves Raymond show where Marie's Canolis are often topic of conversation!Just finished dinner and have some room for dessert - I'll bet they are a dash sight better than Marie's best ;))

I'm still buying the shells and filling them myself with all kinds of goodies.
It is lots of work to make them...but I can imagine the satisfaction.
