Spinach Sausage and Olive Italian Roll Recipe

Italian Homemade Sausage, Spinach and Olives~

Homemade Sausage Spinach Roll  Filled Dough
Look at all the gooey melted cheese!
You can really make this a whole meal in itself. I love Italian pizza rolls. Anything can go into it you like, build your own inside  rolled covered  in pizza dough all in a  rolled up sandwich ! Dip in a warm bowl of sauce and your are good to go!
Here's how to make this wonderful Sausage Roll!
First fry up some of your favorite Italian sausage 1lb,  and drain on paper towels to absorb all the grease, or make your own sausage here.
Fry up a bag of  fresh spinach in a seperate large fry pan with three tablespoon of olive oil, salt and pepper to taste a dash of cayenne pepper. Set aside.
Chop up some black olives, add to the spinach and sausage combined in a medium size bowl. Then add 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 teaspoon chopped garlic, mix well.
Using a 1 pound store bought or homemade pizza dough, roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to the size of a 14x14 inch rectangular shaped dough around a 1/4 inch thick.
Spread the filling on top, roll forward three times, pinching all seams together. Brush with olive oil and optional sprinkle with sesame seeds bake at 425 till browned around 25 to 35 minutes.
Serve with marinara sauce.

Claudia, this looks great and sounds delicious. My kind of food for sure! And it would definitely do as a whole meal in itself.

Claudia,
That is one great looking stuffed bread. We have a similar type of bread in Louisiana they make called Crawfish Bread. Lots of melted cheese with crawfish tails all wrapped inside a fresh baked bread dough.

I love pizza this way...and although I would not do the sausage, would devour the rest of the ingredients :)

The sausage, spinach, eggplant rolls are the best items to serve at parties. There never seems to be any left overs AND they are so easy to make.

Wow, this looks so warming and comforting. This must have been perfect with a glass of wine and your feet up (I hope!)

What a delicious take on Stromboli. I once used rye dough to make a Reuben roll. I love the combination of sausage and cheese and spinach. Please pass the Pinot Grigio.

Winner, winner, sausage dinner! I love this calzone-like dish. And, I especially like that it will be wonderful any time of the year - on the patio in summer, or in front of the fire on Christmas Eve! Good Recipe, Claudia!

This looks identical to a spinach calzone from the pizzeria right down the street from my grandmother's house - oh the memories!!

I do something similar with sausage and cheese- but I am loving the spinach and olives in this and will definitely be making this. Love the oozing cheese photo.

Looks wonderful!! I love these - I use a bread dough instead though. I wonder if The Cajun would eat if I tried to sneak in a little spinach? ;) These are a great party food - you can stuff them with all kinds of things - so versatile!
