We love hot sauce, I usually use Frank's, however, we also like these fried and dipped in a yum yum sauce, so you have the best of both worlds here for a recipe.

If you're not into a fiery heat drizzle just leave it off the shrimp fried alone is like eating popcorn and addictingly delicious!

Easy to make in no time and they taste great even reheated in an air fryer or toaster oven.
Tips
- do not overcook the shrimp they cook quickly
- add a bit of cayenne pepper for folks who really want to heat things up
- blue cheese, ranch or our favorite yum yum sauce can be used for dipping
- shrimp really is best served hot

Buffalo Shrimp Firecracker Style
These spicy little shrimp are like popcorn, you just can't stop at one and will make any seafood lover or chicken wing hot sauce lover very very happy.
We love this fried shrimp and our favorite way to serve them is with our homemade blue cheese dressing to dip them in but don't forget to try our yum yum sauce recipe if you love a sweet mayo based Japanese style dipping sauce.

Firecracker Shrimp
Prep time: 15 MinCook time: 4 MinTotal time: 19 Min
This is a batter-coated shrimp fried then drizzled with a buttery hot sauce. Your choice of dipping sauce blue cheese or ranch. We also like a yum yum sauce.
Ingredients
- 24 large shrimp cleaned, no tails on and water squeezed out if frozen
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- Beat the egg and milk together in a bowl then add the cleaned shrimp and set aside
- 1 cup flour
- 3 tablespoon corn starch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder.
- Add flour, corn starch, and seasoning to a plastic bag
- Note: each shrimp will be rolled and coated with this mixture then fried in heated oil see instructions below
Instructions
- In a large frypan heat about 1 inch of oil on medium-high heat till hot.
- Add a few shrimp to the flour mixture to coat then fry until golden brown. turning once for approximately 2 minutes on each side ( do not overcook shrimp)
- Serve with hot sauce and/or dipping sauce of choice.
- Firecracker Sauce:
- 1/2 cup of favorite hot sauce, (I use Franks hot sauce)
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- Mix together pour over shrimp.
- Add blue cheese or ranch dressing on the side.
- Yum Yum Sauce:
- 1 cup quality mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1-2 tablespoons water, or until desired consistency is reached
- optional: a few splashes of hot sauce or cayenne pepper for a touch of heat optional:
- Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl, cover, and chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Store in a mason jar for up to a week.

ReplyDeleteFried shrimp really are addictive, aren't they? I prefer them 'naked' as you say (sprinkled with some salt and freshly squeezed lemon juice) but I'm sure they're delicious with hot sauce as well.
