Country Style Baked or Fried Apples

Country Style Sliced Baked or Our Copycat Version for Cracker Barrel Fried Apples are the absolute best side dish for any meal.

These are so popular in the South on just about every menu.

You will mostly find them skillet-fried in butter with sugar and cinnamon.

I have two versions for you to try, one baked in the oven and the other fried.

They're both spectacular in flavors and super easy to make.

Serve them with delicious pork chops, pulled pork, or any outdoor barbecued meats, these are always gobbled up first so make a double batch!

The recipe is easy enough for even the kids to make and I always get the best compliments.

These apples can also be served on as a side with breakfast, lunch box treats for school or even a fancy dinner party.

They go great with anything from ham dinners or pancakes for breakfast.

You may want to try our Country Fried Chicken or my Best Fried Pork Chop recipe with these delicious apple slices.

Country Baked or Fried Apples

Down here in Florida we have numerous local diners that serve these.

Most of the country-fried apples on the menu but I love making them baked since it's an easier method than standing behind the stove.

Either way, both recipes are great!

I always order these country-style sliced baked apples with my breakfast,  they're truly a must-have with breakfast at the local Crackbarrel restaurants here in Florida.

A great alternative to having to make dessert at dinner time also.

Making Country Style Apples

Just a few tips, simmer them in butter for the stovetop method longer for softer apples.

Bake them longer if you like them softer in the oven.

Add more spice to taste if you love cinnamon like we do.

Enjoy these apples with any meals you make, it's the best side dish with any breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

One last thing, if you want to use a sugar substitute, no problem sweeten to taste and use your favorite.

  7. Anoynomous, using mcintosh takes around 1 hour till they get brown. I only use baking apples, not quite sure what kind you used. But the way to know they're done is when the fork goes through them easily. Hope that helps you...
