Baby Seashells with Ricotta and Meat Sauce

Baby pasta Sea Shells by the Seashore.....will satisfy any hearty appetite....

















Similar to Baked Ziti, using baby shells and tasting allot like lasagna, the easy way. Living right by the ocean seems fitting to make this dish. We use baby shells often, and love the way the cheese fills them up without having to stuff them, all in one pan, pretty much the same outcome...if you prefer this dish meatless, omit it.

1 16oz box of baby shell pasta boiled
32 oz of your favorite sauce
Grating cheese
16 oz of mozzarella cheese grated
dried parsley (optional)
1 pound of cooked Italian sausage out of casing drained and set aside.
1 pound of hamburger

Put hamburger in a bowl adding 1 teaspoon minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of fresh parsley chopped, 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs and 1/4 cup grating cheese mix well and saute in frying pan till brown. Drain mix sausage and hamburger together set aside.

1 16 oz container of Ricotta
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon each of parsley, garlic powder, pepper
3 tablespoons grating cheese
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella
Mix Ricotta, egg, cheeses and spices together set aside.

In a large 13x9x 2 inch greased pan, start with shells, add meat, some sauce. More shells, Ricotta, more sauce and more shells....top with shredded mozzarella, extra grating cheese and sprinkle with dried parsley. Bake till bubbly around 30 minutes on 400 hot oven. Serve.

oh god, I used to make these all the time. of course the night of the very first sopranos episode we'd always have baked ziti and a florentine polenta cake for dessert.
